Pros

Best research in the world is done here, the equipment here is great, you usually get the freedom to research what you want and the professors won't steal your work.

Cons

the professors are sometimes too busy to look after you, so you really have to develop research skills in classes or on your own. it really depends on who you work for... some professors are great... others are not so wonderful and will have you do mind-numbingly dull work. you just have to be super careful when you read the urop descriptions and go in for an interview.

Pros

Many different departments to work in, and you can move up. Great staff and the students are very nice. Location is good, and the view of the CHarles River is beautiful.

Cons

You need a lot of experience in order to move up, so it takes awhile. The commute is terrible if you live out of the city.
