Pros

- A lot of freedom when choosing research topic - Collaborative environment between research groups - Well funded research resources, facility, offices, equipment, etc

Cons

- Not very rigorous on the technical side (at the Media Lab) - Lab is mainly funded by corporate sponsors, and a lot of work/time goes into demoing/pitching projects to visitors

Pros

Work with very intelligent people who are not arrogant. Opportunities to learn about cutting edge technologies or to be inventing these technologies. Lots of free food :) Every graduate student loves free food. People really want to see you succeed.

Cons

Getting an education at MIT is really like drinking out of a fire hose. Professors are oftentimes over worked and overextend themselves. Probably one of the ugliest college campuses that I have been to.

Pros

MIT is an awesome place, it's were best minds of the world get together to create the the future of the world.

Cons

I can not see any cons of being an MIT person. Maybe sleep deprivation and competition which are obvious, and expected.
