Pros

The flexibility in the workplace is great The peer group is unbelievably smart Everyone is very helpful and professional The network of students as well as alumni is unmatched due to the variety of companies they are at. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1861 in response to the increasing industrialization of the United States, MIT adopted a European polytechnic university model and stressed laboratory instruction in applied science and engineering. Researchers worked on computers, radar, and inertial guidance during World War II and the Cold War. Post-war defense research contributed to the rapid expansion of the faculty and campus under James Killian. The current 168-acre (68.0 ha) campus opened in 1916 and extends over 1 mile (1.6 km) along the northern bank of the Charles River basin.

Cons

There is a poor work life balance Everyone works all the time, which pushes you, but can be monotonous at times The weather in the city can be pretty bad during winters

Pros

Smart and experienced professors (mostly), ability to meet top company executives from major corporations, fun to visit different discussions held throughout campus.

Cons

Very high turnover. Selectively updating the department at meeting that their program was running well while skipping over poor reviews and never fixing problems because no one talks about them. No room for growth with managers holding a solid line between workers and advancement.

Pros

+Working with some of the smartest people on the planet. +Daily inspiration on the homepage: fix the planet? Yes! Cure disease? Yes! Make cool stuff? Absolutely! +Helpful and reliable staff. +Location, location, location.

Cons

∆Too much comes at us on a regular basis: like what's said about an MIT education - drinking through a firehose. Hard to keep up with. ∆Less transparency in HR practices than desired. ∆Some internal systems are outdated or don't function optimally. ∆Policies and procedures vary by department. ∆Some efforts to make change at the Institute result in drastic change to culture.
