Pros

Endless opportunities for networking, scientific education and access to innovation. A flexible work environment, allowing good work-life balance. MIT affiliation opens up opportunities outside the institute.

Cons

Collaboration is minimal. An intense research environment. Many people are unhappy. Nature of work is very unexpected and PI dependent.

Pros

Very innovative environment, constantly surrounded by brilliant people and exposed to cutting-edge ideas, fosters entrepreneurial spirit, some labs provide a lot of freedom to explore and pursue your own ideas

Cons

Very intense expectations of grad students, many grad students seem very unhappy and that mood pervades, near complete lack of work-life balance, people often lack communication and interpersonal skills, does not lead to well-rounded skill sets

Pros

School is a fun place to be and the jobs there are interesting for students to help fund their education.

Cons

There is not a lot of transparency in how or why certain people are granted different positions over others.
