Pros

If you would like to work against major problems within the government - MITRE offers genuine access and influence to help drive big challenges with a data-centric approach.

Cons

In some ways MITRE mirrors the government. Recent changes have been made to address bureaucracy and increase autonomy and agility.

Pros

Really smart colleagues -- many of whom are dedicated and passionate about their mission-driven work. Decent work/life balance (it's not just lip service here.) Decent pay if you do good work and have an HR "manager" who understands what you're doing and values you -- and if you survived the layoffs.

Cons

Lack of vision *and* how that vision flows down to front-line workers. CEO and VPs keep talking about smart growth but no one can explain the concept well or what it should mean to regular employees. Super ol' boys club, where almost all the female leadership has been wiped out in favor of old, white men who used to be in federal government. Tons of silos, and once you start asking around, you realize 500 other people are working on what you're working on. Government customers are slow, outdated, and don't want to modernize or change. It's frustrating how little innovation there actually is because there's no desire for innovation within government.

We appreciate your thoughtful feedback, and agree that MITRE has an extraordinary and talented workforce! We’re proud to be consistently recognized as a Top Place to Work in Boston, in the DC Metro area, and in multiple cities across the country where MITRE has a presence, with many of our employees citing their appreciation for our work/life balance and flexibility. A specific area of focus for our leaders over the course of the year is to connect with employees to build a shared understanding of our business strategy, planned through multiple forums including all-employee meetings and site visits. Your comments related to diversity in leadership are concerning and inaccurate, and we will continue to ensure that our leaders are representative of our diverse and multigenerational workforce. MITRE is dedicated to delivering on the diversity pledge our CEO made earlier this year as part of the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, along with 150 CEOs nationwide .

Pros

MITRE is an organization that is dedicated to public service. MITRE hires the very best professionals - very sharp, highly credentialed, and motivated people who want to make a difference. MITRE is loyal to its employees and offers outstanding benefits. Staff here collaborate and support each other and there are endless learning and growth opportunities. Teams work together to deliver impact and results to sponsors. The integrity of the organization, its leaders, and staff is above reproach.

Cons

MITRE’s impact is growing, and with growth comes change. Managing change is essential as the company shifts in this rapidly changing world. As MITRE grows, it will be important to modernize internal processes and infrastructure. As changes in staffing become necessary, more transparency and clear communication about the changes would be welcomed and would help keep morale high.
