MITRE is a wonderful place to work for a number of reasons, especially for those who enjoy a collegiate environment with a lot of autonomy. MITRE doesn't not have a rigorous and strict career path which enables employees to explore, reinvent themselves, broaden their experience base, etc. Its missions support most government agencies from military to intelligence to healthcare to citizen and veteran benefits organizations. The nature of our work enables employees to move around and explore all these areas. The culture enables collaboration, communication and discovery and network, through technical exchange meetings, communities of interest, knowledge sharing sessions, MITRE institute courses, and just plain grabbing a coffee and meeting someone new.

Ther company does not have a lot of operating norms and as such organizations take on the culture and personality of it's leaders, which can be good or bad depending upon your own personality.
