Pros

There are great research opportunities and very smart people to work with. Management is involved in making sure you have all you need to do your work.

Cons

It's sometimes hard to get the information needed from elsewhere in the company. You don't get all the perks unless you work at one of the headquarters.

Pros

Chance to work on very high-tech software and other system technologies. Good industry benefits and on-site facilities (dining, health center, library, etc.). Good emphasis on continued technical education on latest technologies.

Cons

Work and employment status highly dependent on whims of Congressional funding (when it dies up, so does your job). Being a large organization, politics can be an issue at times.

Pros

The MITRE Corporation is the backbone of our government's decision making process in critical national areas including Veteran Care, Health Care, DoD technology spending, personnel management, security policy. It is the right policy to assure continual MITRE funding without undue influence from competition. Without MITRE's expert personnel helping our civilian employees, low quality and ineffective work would result in our government.

Cons

Excess internal and external rules, policy, and regulation. Many younger employees don't understand the essence of being a true MITRE. Many employees argue about insignificant points or left-field academic view points that is not MITRE. Not enough strong leaders to manage and help employees to work together to achieve MITRE goals. End of year rewards were diluted with those who did not deserve rewards.

We are happy to hear that you still enjoy your work after being with the company for more than 10 years. We put a premium on talent – both experienced and early career. Together, their different viewpoints are our greatest assets in solving our sponsors’ challenges. It remains important for us to grown and evolve while retaining the culture that MITRE employees enjoy.
