Interesting work. There are a wide variety of tasks to choose from and you can go as far as you are willing to push yourself.
Cons
The Federally Funded Research and Development (FFRDC) Model is under some pressure lately. MITRE's strength lies in system security engineering, evaluating contractor proposals and inputs for the government and also coordinating projects where multiple vendors or Federal entities are involved, but this comprises only some of MITRE's business. There is a real risk that MITRE will need to continue to downsize non-core business.
