Pros

It helps you get a higher education, focusing on the particular area you want to work on, whiting the organization.

Cons

It can get a little boring, its more of a research environment, although you are working for a client with specific needs.

Pros

MITRE has a very dedicated and professional workforce, and tackles some of the most difficult and rewarding problems for the country. The people at MITRE are our biggest asset. Working with great people makes the day fly by. Freedom to be self-directed and chose from a broad array of projects and tasks makes working at MITRE like few others.

Cons

Extremely high-quality workforce (okay, think about it). Being dedicated to a specific area or project can lead to being 'pigeon holed' as competent in that area or project. There is too much emphasis on the internal research project competitions. These competitions waste much time outside the grants to work the research, and yield little results.

Pros

The best place I've work that takes work-life balance seriously. They do take care of the employees. Great benefits and flexibility, despite the fact that we are a not-for-profit.

Cons

a bit laid back and low key
