      Pros

      Stay 10 years, get Fed student loan forgiveness. If in engineering or science R&D, work can be cutting-edge and interesting.

      Cons

      Areas outside of traditional engineering and science R&D are not mature. Company plagued by old guard unqualified to work in new fields, but do so anyway to fill their time sheets. Project work is sparse and assigned based on relationships, not expertise. Lack of internal funding for advanced research. Compensation is below industry standards, i.e, no substantial bonuses or RSU's. Bullying is rampant and unaddressed by management.

      Strong mission, dedicated and smart people. Very realistic work life balance for most.

      Cons

      Complex, can be hard to push through meaningful change. MITRE holds on to under performers too long.
