Pros

decent work life balance. most of the time you will be working alone on a task.

Cons

growth/promotion structure is very unclear. they have just undergone a reorg. however, senior staff have mostly mentioned promotion is historically slow. it seems like a few people have gotten to move up quickly. your work/impact is dependent on the nature of your work so if its not high profile, you may not get as much credit / exposure in terms of growth.

Pros

Work-life balance is great with plenty of time off and flexible scheduling. Great job security, especially if you can maintain a security clearance. Good opportunities for training and learning new skills. It's a not-for-profit company. They're fairly open about their budgets and salaries, and they prefer quality work over quick fixes.

Cons

Pulled a bait-and-switch by making employees give up their offices just before requiring them to come in 2-3 days per week again. Benefits are good on paper, but in practice it's bottom-of-the-barrel healthcare plan administration and rife with processing errors. You'll often have several months of back-and-forth with HR and insurance companies to resolve issues. Especially bad with transgender healthcare, it's covered in theory but you won't get them to pay out without a lawsuit. Pay is decent, but you could do better in any other industry if you don't need this level of job security. Lots of slowdown, overhead, and general stress from the nature of government work.
