MOD Pizza headquarters/support center is the definition of chaos: a state of utter confusion or disorder; a total lack of organization or order. If you read nothing but these first sentences, I’ll put it simply; if you value yourself and your family do not work at MOD Pizza.
- Long work hours: many people work 50-60 hours a week, without any form of compensation for said hours (no additional PTO, overtime, or comp time).
- 'Lower level' employees are paid poorly, about 50-60% of their market value (really anyone who's not on the leadership team).
- Gender and racial salary bias is common. The bias and ignorance flows through the entire company; there's also no sensitivity committee to speak of if you do have an issue with another employee.
- Employees are treated as disposable resources: if you discover you're worth more than your salary or you come upon a dirty company secret you'll be disposed of quickly.
- Revoked promotions occur frequently: you'll be offered a role just to have it revoked a few days later. This is done so you'll take on more work without a title or salary bump. I saw this happen to several employees.
- There's no consistent company policy regarding the termination of employment: in my time at MOD, I saw 5-10 people fired and pushed out of their desk that day for little to no reason at all, while others were given weeks to finish up their work and were given 'going away' parties.
- Benefits are averagely poor: for example, maternity leave is only 12 days.
- No company contribution to 401k
- The leadership team only shows gratitude to the members of the leadership team. It's a coterie of people who flatter one another and promote each other's reputations.
- Toxic leadership behavior: not opposed to blowing up at their employees, throwing tantrums, discussing inappropriate personal life details, lying to the CEO, and using company resources for personal gain.
- Execs are often credited for the work their employees do. Many execs are under-qualified for their roles, so they've learned to take credit for the work of their employees to appear qualified.
I always wanted to believe in the potential of the company. I never wanted to give up hope that one day it would change and get better. It truly saddens me that there are so many incredible people that work there and are being taken advantage of so obviously. If it’s supposed to be a people place, make sure all your people are being taken care of, not just the ones who make six figures.
