Pros

It's a great company to start a career in publishing. Helpful leadership who are mostly prepared for the future.

Cons

Lots of turnover, but that's pretty typical in this industry and at this level. Budgets are tight but that's the industry norm.

Sinking ship

Pros

Industry leader, big name authors and imprints and the opportunity to be part of an evolving industry

Cons

Poor compensation and willful exploitation of freelancers. They haven't fully figured out how to evolve. Insufficient benefits for the many young women who fill the field- ie terrible maternity leave.

Pros

It's a top publishing house with a small house feel.

Cons

Hiring more from the outside lately, which makes it hard to move up.
