Pros

The vast majority of people are super helpful and very supportive, very few big ego's, lots of creativity and a passion and true belief in what the business is about, lots of opportunity to get involved in interesting work and expand your remit. Lots of academic and bright people to keep you on your toes.

Cons

Academic and intellectual people can often over analyse, be change averse and stall on decision making - change can be slow to happen. No formal career advancement or reward structures - although that is changing now. A lack of commerciality and a robust programme management approach can be frustrating - although that is moving in the right direction also with the influx of these skills from outside the industry.

Cons

Maybe a bit too laid back in the office Some developers are not given the leadership they need to become better Not a huge focus on external training
