Pros

*Fellow employees are passionate about book publishing both as an art and as a business. *Low-key work environment; not too buttoned-up. *Access to great books.

Cons

*Low salary (especially for entry-level workers). *Difficult to move up. *Managers are often extremely busy (understandably so) and it can be difficult to establish a mentoring relationship.

Pros

Casual dress code. For the most part, everyone is very nice and easy to work with. Most people are very passionate about their jobs.

Cons

It's a huge company and suffers from bureaucracy and disorganization, diseconomies of scale. It doesn't help that publishing in general is on the decline. People get so into their work that they forget to take lunch breaks to socialize. Many employees are tied to their email accounts.
