Pros

Given that Macquarie is a relatively new comer, it's quicker and more flexible for juniors to be promoted to senior level.

Cons

Little package vs. its larger peers with late bonus payment in May~Jun, which makes employees very difficult to find available positions at other houses. Long working hours & high turnover.

Pros

free parking on weekends free alcahol at parties easy location to get to

Cons

there seems to be alot of people doing nothing there. I dont know how they make money. I guess inflatting asset prices and borrowing to pay themselves "performance fees" is one good way. they are excellent at marketing themselves as the rocket scientists of the finance world in australia, but when you do the psychometric test to get in, they value sales skills over intelligence. So basically it is just full of very good sales people who really don't have a great idea. This may show in the long run. Also, the majority of people have either been there for over 10 years or under 3 years. So the old school make it very difficult for newbies to progress in fear there sweet little world may come under threat. very politically driven company. If your actually bright, go work somewhere else cause not only does this place suck to work if you are young and actually have a clue but I doubt it will survive weel into the near future due to the culture that has existed there

Pros

Established name, ambitious, bright and driven employees. If you are prepared to put in the hard work, you can be rewarded as there are many highly experienced and knowledgeable people in the company whom you can learn alot from.

Cons

No work life balance, expectations to deliver all the time, work like a dog, some egos. There is an expectation that you will work all the hours of the day and weekends to get things delivered. It's part of normal culture. There are also some really young and ambitious executives who are also just driven by work targets but are poor are people management and mentoring. People are generally just too busy most of the time to have any time for you. You go there into the deep end and they test you to see whether you can sink or swim.
