      Pros

      Although most management and upper management were very knowledgeable and experienced, I was disappointed to have some very unprofessional and inadequate managers. Hopefully, this problem will be solved with a centralized office in ny. Other than that, I had a good experience while working at Macys West and it really helped me get my foot in the door in retail.

      Cons

      Some managers were unprofessional and inadequate and lacked organization and mentoring skills.

      Pros

      Employee discounts Got to play with makeup and make people look pretty Got to see and demo products before it is available to the public Coworkers were pretty swell Gratis (though this is provided by vendor, NOT by Macy's itself) Okay benefits They allow visible tattoos It's a job

      Cons

      Pay is on the low side for the dollars they want you to make and the number of high rate credit apps they expect out of you. They only see your scorecard, not you. And your pay raise is based entirely on it. They ask you to come up with events and new ideas, but then shoot down almost all of them when you think of some reasonable ones. Management comes off as a little shady, they never give you direct answers to important questions, and often spout off the line "it's an HR issue" Management can be patronizing when addressing employees.

      Pros

      Good work/life balance and they are supportive of outside interests such as volunteering. The people are young and the atmosphere is fun.

      Cons

      The pay is low if you want to live in New York City and the benefits (medical, dental, vision) are not great and cost a lot.
