Pros

Employee discount is decent, although all purchases must be made on a Macy's Card. Ability to view schedule and sales #s from home.

Cons

I had no problem learning how to perform the basic operations on the registers, but my manager started me on a Sunday without telling me what area I was working in. Turns out that I had no business even working in that department. NO product training prior to being tossed on the floor. Selling credit is a MUST. Every commissioned and non-commissioned sales employee is tracked on how much they run through the register. Breaks are promised, but hard to deliver. Manager are hard to find and all they care about is numbers.

Pros

Great discounts on merchandise. It was a great part time posistion for school, as they work with your school schedules.

Cons

Basic cons for all retail jobs. Management seems to take the side of the customer instead of backing their employees in some sort of dispute. For example, a customer wanted to return something he bought at Khols, without a receipt. When I refused to do this, he called a manager, my manager performed the transaction. This made me look ridiculous. However, that is Macys mantra- outstanding customer support. It's not personal, just management's job I guess.

Pros

Employee discount is nice, reliable company that has been around for a while. There are also advancement opportunities if you want more then just a sales position.

Cons

It would be a better company to work for if you weren't pushed to open credit cards so much. Also what is the point of having a return policy if you'll take back anything cosmetics wise?
