Pros

Ease of job, discounts, colleagues, flexibility sometimes

Cons

Management is toxic starting from the top. Try to pressure employees into performative body like smiling arbitrarily at customers, pressuring colleagues to put maximal effort into the job like opening credit cards constantly, always approaching customers instead of letting them browse comfortably, blaming them for any bad behavior from customers list goes on. Macy’s demands a lot from their employees for a simple job and doesn’t compensate them appropriately for their expectations. You could meet their desired metrics on paper and still be unpaid. Any incentives benefits that the company would offer to their employees they strip them over time. Environment is also unsafe at times.

Worst job ever

Pros

The employee discount was good and covered most the departments. Great severance package.

Cons

Management was not friendly. Everyone is trying to keep their jobs which caused lots of friction amongst the teams. The store/bathrooms were disgusting. Mice were present. Business reporting is completely antiquated. Every promp is a code. Training was horrible. You do get training on the computer for use of the cash register. After that you're on your own. No manuels to follow. Every January they cut extra staff/eliminate jobs. HR was so moody and unapproachable. HR was all eventually eliminated. Management was very unorganized. There are so many managers working at Macy's that it was easy to forget someone or not follow through with accountability.
