Pros

I've had a fantastic experience at Magic Leap. I've met some of the coolest people I've ever met, I get to play with crazy future tech daily, and I've gotten opportunities to help shape the future I never would have gotten elsewhere. We get good pay, great bonuses, and equity in the company. Free lunches, free ice cream every Thursday, and free snack machines. I think the happy Leapers tend not to vent on glass door, so there is a selection bias towards the ones who aren't happy. Which is going to happen in a company with 1000+ employees. There are some legitimate grievances, but the typical experience of the typical employee is much better that these reviews indicate.

Cons

Magic Leap faces one of the hardest technological challenges the world has faced, but people neglect to mention how hard of a managerial challenge we face. We are pre-revenue and have quintupled in size over the last 5 years. Our transition from a few folks in a garage to a corporate giant has soured a few people, and there have definitely been mistakes made. We do have to work very hard. Sometimes nights, sometimes weekends. That's startup life. It's easier for us young folks who don't have families. But frankly, if you want a low effort job where you can put in 40 hours and check out, Microsoft is hiring. ;) But when I go through the halls, I see people smiling and laughing with friends. We aren't getting whipped by management and sobbing while staring out windows like some of these reviews are saying, haha.
