Pros

The leadership has a long history in visual effects and leading-edge technologies so they know how to attract amazing talent from all around the world. Many of the projects they work on tend to be high profile, challenging and very rewarding. Some of these projects they choose to work on are truly innovative which makes this company even more attractive to work for. These are important qualities for ANY successful tech company but they're not the only thing that sets this company apart from the others. Lemme 'splain... I've never worked at a place with better culture than Magnopus. They truly care about their employees, their well-being and how everyone can work together inclusively and genuinely LIKE each other! They understand that if people aren't happy going to work, it collectively brings down the work environment. They understand that people want to like their job and they have an active, on-going interest into what type of work makes you really happy and will act on helping you achieve that goal. I was given some of the most rewarding, fun and challenging work and was happily leveling-up the whole time doing it. Most others I've spoken with have felt similarly, which seems natural to assume since most everyone working there are quite positive. People are generally encouraged to grow and are challenged in a manner that's healthy and benefits everyone. Perhaps this is part of their magic sauce that helps drive the innovation and high standards they've enjoyed so far. The managers and producers are an absolute pleasure to work with and push very hard for their teams. They got your back! They also understand that being very process-oriented and responsive will keep all of the moving parts heading in the right direction quickly and keep you unblocked. The All-Hands meetings are not only informative from the updates from leaders, but they're a lot of fun and include their signature Happy Hour with fun remote games and great people to mingle with. You'll make lots of great memories with these folks! Company benefits are very good and are usually paid for fully by the company, depending on your situation and your choices of providers. The pay is decent especially when you factor in the aforementioned 100% company-paid health benefits. (again... depending on your choices and situation.) The company encourages personal growth and offers several ways for employees to learn new things. They even have a great internal program called "The Magno-Academy" where employees volunteer to teach a class or series of classes of helpful topics to the rest of the crew. To add to that, the company has even provided everyone with subscriptions to things like "Masterclass" to level up ourselves even further! During the whole pandemic lockdown, the company has been absolutely perfect with it's attentiveness to its employees and their respective families. They've taken all measures to ensure people were safe at home and had everything they've needed to work effectively and comfortably. When vaccines were available, they took all proper precautions to make sure that if anyone wanted to work at the office, that they were fully vaccinated, masked up and properly socially-distanced from one another. When anyone calls in sick, someone from HR will kindly check in with you to make sure you're ok, have what you need and you're not showing symptoms of covid. There are many more perks to working at here at Magnopus, but overall, "Magnopians" are a hard-working, highly-collaborative, caring group of seasoned veterans from a range of industries like visual effects, web design, video games, mixed realities and other tech sectors. This is a well-oiled machine and it's only getting better. If you're a talented, forward-thinking, decent person and enjoy working with like-minded people, this is your place! I promise!

Cons

Not too many cons here from my perspective. I will say that the company leaders are thinking big, and that means big risk-taking with some pretty lofty goals. Perhaps this isn't really a "con" but it does affect how teams approach these goals which can be daunting, misunderstood or seem nebulous or nearly impossible at times. The silver lining to that is that the leaders and managers are very smart and seem to carefully think before they act as well as listen to us and take our collective advice seriously. Because there are lots of innovative projects, many projects are super-secret, which means employees can't talk about them for some time, if ever. This also means employees can't include many of the projects they've worked on in their resumes. (There can be an allure for working on super-secret stuff... so this comment might also be a "pro" for some!) By some definitions, Magnopus is still a startup company, with some startup challenges. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though, because the company enjoys a steadily upward trajectory and is increasingly sought-after from high-end clients from all around the world. I think there's been a couple of other ex-employees that have expressed their own negative perspectives, unfortunately. I don't pretend to understand their situations, but I do know that their comments have left many of us very puzzled. I only wish they'd chosen to effectively communicate their problems as I have no doubt that things would have worked out better for them if they had. It seems as though some people choose to suffer in silence until it's too late to help them.

Pros

Solid start up to work at. Interesting projects and great co-workers. Good benefits. The company was very supportive during COVID-19 uncertainty.

Cons

As any growing start up, Magnopus needs to catch up with organizational structure to provide the most support to employees.
