Challenging as far as deadlines and workload, but not in terms of mechanical engineering.

Pros

When the machine tool business is good, Makino can be a very rewarding place to work. Much of the work involves integration of high speed machine tool systems and tooling, which can be interesting and challenging. However the job is more oriented around process design, not mechanical design, other than layout.

Cons

The machine tool business is very cyclic. Therefore job stability is not good; in a downturn it is certainly possible to be laid off or furloughed. The job can require a lot of traveling, when an integrated machining system is being deployed at a customer's location, the applications engineer will often need to be on-site. The profit margins in this business are meager and the competition between machine tool companies can be cutthroat.

Though not a good place to work in, But can learn a lot

Pros

- MNC - Good reputation - Big enough to explore the function of each job - Most of the colleagues are pretty friendly and helpful - Company transport provided - Working environment is clean

Cons

- Job Scope is blurry. Direction is unclear. - Manager do not dare to make decision hence delay of work. - Too much red tapes. - Top management unable to plan and organise - 1 way communication. Top management to down only - Promotion is base on relationship rather than skill and contribution - Pay increment is very very less. - Organization culture is neither here nor there. Mixture of Japanese culture, Local culture, Indian culture, American culture etc.
