Business Outlook

Pros

Learn different things that will help you later in the retail business. Bakery, finances, sales, customer service, team building, quickness, opening/closing procedures, machine operating, sanitation, organization, and friendliness for tips. Not much to do in the winter.

Cons

Not too much room for advancement. Low pay. Dealing with customers that never fail to tell you that the ice cream is pricey but all you have to say is 'I don't decide on the prices'. Besides... You get free ice cream.

Pros

You get to work inside with air conditioning. Customers are USUALLY friendly and happy because they're getting ice cream which makes for a positive environment.

Cons

The pay was $6 an hour plus tips. However, the prices of the ice cream were pretty high so most customers were surprised when I told them the price and were not likely to tip. The average pay with tips was $7 per hour.
