Once a stellar laboratory has been on a downward spiral for years with no end in sight. Last two directors have run the place into the ground and most of the talent has left the building. Leadership is unethical and cannot be trusted. Don't apply; run the other way!

I worked within IT with some of the most competent individuals around. Everyone was vested in making MGH a better place.

Cons

Leadership within IT is lacking. Rather than leading by example, exercising truth and humility, and keeping professionalism central to strategy, some choose to undercut staff efforts by taking credit and stifling growth. Some get promoted regardless of experience or qualifications. This leads to risky behavior and mistakes that could be prevented. Overuse of contract workers makes it an ever changing environment with no stability. When I left, staff turnover was an issue and positions were not being backfilled. This left too much work for too few people. We were all replaceable with contractors according to leadership.
