Pros
I plan to finish my career at Markel. I have never felt so proud to work for a company. The leadership is accessible. There is a focus on the individual and bringing your whole self to work. Philanthropy and volunteerism are encouraged and supported. (3:1 match for donations). I do not feel that being a woman limits my career in any way. DEI is a focus of the claims organization in particular. There is always more that can be done, but the momentum is there. Company has an entrepreneurial spirit.
Cons
Training and onboarding need improvement, but claims has recently created a new position for a trainer. Technology is frustrating as we wait for planned implementation of new system.
