Pros

when this company was smaller, it's a good place to study and gain knowledge. however it's no more the case now.free food is good but you might always have to worry about poor earning report and associated layoff. in some of the groups, engineers are assign to a broad spectrum of work, including design, all the way toward to the very back end of the project, i.e. physical design and debugging. so it's a good place for new grads to gain experiences.

Cons

clueless management and totally black box organization. always worry about being laid-off if you're in some of the groups.

Pros

Competitive Salary, Decent Benefits, and a great place to learn new technologies. If you're at HQ, free food and coffee. Lots of friendly people to help you get started.

Cons

Long hours, career advancement oppurtunities are minimal, marketing groups are very secretive making it hard to get information sometimes. Company is 100% family run. Company is led by an Engineer, and not a business leader. Some of the business units lack forward vision.

Pros

Their stock during 2000 to 2005 was the only reason people stuck around. After the stock started to decline and lose 70% of its value starting early 2006, lots of people left. The only redeeming value is that Marvell makes you very efficient worker but at the expense of professionalism.

Cons

No work life balance; lots of politics in exec level mgmt with GMs. GMs of business Units who know how to 'talk' to CEO usually get what they want. I am sure this is also true of other companies but the degree that this happened was embarrassing. In particular, there is a somewhat young Indian GM who was not a goof businessman and had a terrible reputation with customers. But he was a technical guy who could talk circles around the CEO.
