Pros

Mary Kay is great for someone who is self-motivated and disciplined. You have a huge support system, but your success or failure is 100% dependent on your action. You control your hours and your income. There is great money to be made, you have to be willing to work for it,

Cons

This is not for everyone. It is a 100% commission sales career. Freedom and flexibility is great, but it will not work for someone who is not disciplined. Most of your appointments will be held between 5-10pm and on Sat and Sun.

Politics and Crony Management

Pros

Beautiful building and most of the people are terrific. The "potential" is wonderful, but falls short.

Cons

People are promoted into positions for which they are not suited because of crony management. The senior level of management is comprised of people who've been with MKI for decades, so they are so mired in old-school conquer and control management versus actual leadership that inspires and rewards based on genuine merit and solid performance. The "managers" are so busy being "bosses" that they forget or have no clue about how to be leaders. Great people have left because they are just stuck and see no future because of the wall of old-timers that are hiring their pals and keeping good and highly qualified personnel from advancing. It is so very sad. Mary Kay Ash is spinning in her grave.

Pros

Amazingly friendly employees. Mary Kay has a fairly dynamic and competitive compensation structure. Due to the warm corporate culture, it is fairly easy to accomplish your work. Executive team is very available and supportive.

Cons

Consensus based decision making leads to many many meetings. Executives make most if not all decisions. Antiquated corporate culture that lacks flexibility and agility. Big corporate engine that is slow to change. Not as progressive as many other corporations in the Dallas area.
