MassMutual Agency System

Pros

MassMutual is a great national brand and they distribute their products through internal agents and external brokers. OK transactional broker/dealer platform, they're improving advisory platform, and they have great products for brokers to provide to their clients. Home Office teams are generally good to work with and knowledgeable. Communication directly to Sales Assistants is getting better, but in the past has been horrible.

Cons

Agency system is antiquated and too 'old school'. While they have recently made a large investment in technology, I fear they will always be playing "catch up". I don't see the agency system surviving in the next 10 years. Keep legacy agents in their contracts, but reconfigure upcoming GA and new advisor's structure and compensation to meet the times - allow them to consider themselves to be truly independent.
