      Survival of the fittest.

      Pros

      You are responsible for starting a business from scratch. This means that you have complete freedom in terms of your hours and pay. The more you work the more you make, and there is no one looking over your shoulder telling you what to do. There is a lot of freedom and the potential to make a lot of money in a relatively short period of time.

      Cons

      On the flip side, if you don't put in the time and effort you won't make much. The job was almost completely commission based and asking a recent college graduate to build a business from scratch is easier said than done. There is a very high attrition rate in the industry because most people are simply not cut out for this kind of work.

      Pros

      - Ability to ACTUALLY own your business - Smartest manager I've ever had (and I've worked for several competitors) - Huge product portfolio (not just insurance) - Love the Financial District - For the really ambitious: Advancement Opportunities

      Cons

      - I can understand the bitter reviews, but this career isn't meant for everybody. Definitely not for the faint of heart and the thinned-skinned. - This career is extremely challenging WHEREVER YOU GO, but SF MassMutual is where I received the best type of training throughout my long career in this industry. - Be prepared to make sacrifices early in this career. I am seeing newer agents starting their second year, and are already reaping the benefits.

      Great benefits, location in Boston, and some people that I have met are friendly

      Cons

      Toxic Favoritism Managers in positions that have no real reason being in said position Too political Needs to reevaluate hybrid policy , maybe 1-2 days onsite instead of 3 Badge swiping that monitor how often you are onsite Pay is below what is expected to obtain great workers
