      A once-great company that has declined

      Pros

      Generous PTO, great 401k matching, good benefits.

      Cons

      Mastercard used to be one of the best places I've worked at. As of 2024, it's one of the worst. Layoffs, "return" to office, and short-staffing has led to a dog-eats-dog culture and a burned-out workforce. Very low transparency from high-level management.

      As a person in the sales organization, last few years have been tough. They set the sales goal at the beginning of the year, and when we all met our goals, they told us that we all overachieved and that the bonus budget was depleted, resulting all of sales bonus being reduced by 20%+.

      Fantastic benefits (10% 401k match, 25 days PTO, among others), interesting industry.

      Cons

      Progressive decline in company culture, which was made worse with previous CEO’s departure. Those who talk the loudest and manage up get promoted while top performers with a proven track record simply get a pat on the back, which is very demoralizing. Lots of jobs in Miami have been pushed to the markets which also severely limits opportunities for growth and creates uncertainty. Lastly, HR in the Miami office is the absolute worst and (like many others) is only concerned with managing up with a complete disregard for the people.
