Thank you for sharing your experience and for your contributions as a teacher at Mastery. We’re glad to hear that you’ve had a positive experience with your colleagues, compensation, and location. We also appreciate your candid feedback regarding culture, workload, and time off. We recognize how important it is for staff to feel supported and to maintain a sustainable work-life balance. Over the years we've upgraded our PTO policy and we continue to adapt scheduling and expectations to support staff in balancing workload, but we understand there's more work to be done. Our goal is to ensure that Mastery is a great place to start your career, but also a place where educators can grow and thrive. If you'd like to share more, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at recruitment@masterycharter.org.

Pros

I still work here because I really value their commitment to educational equity. They in fact care so much that it feels like they have time for nothing but excellence. I appreciate that these schools do the work to provide high standards of education for the families that they serve. If you have the will and the drive, they are very efficient at coaching you to be effective at your job. Very competitive pay

Cons

-I do not feel comfortable at work letting my bosses know that the energy they demand from me is driving me, and many of my co-workers, crazy and making many want to quit. -Schools ask for feedback, feedback is given, feedback is basically gaslit back to you as a non-problem or unresolvable (class sizes frequently at 30 with up to 10-15 IEP’s per class, workload demands being excruciating in the name of rigor and hiring less people because of the school’s budget, etc). -First step of pay increase puts many younger (new hire) teachers in a position where switching jobs in education requires a significant pay cut -Culture is not terrible but support is not great and does not help when you are someone who also has trauma

Thank you for your feedback as it is valuable to our team. We appreciate your time here at Mastery and your commitment to educational equity, as this is very important to our mission. We're happy to hear that you're pleased with the coaching and competitive pay we provide, as we aim to support all staff professionally and personally.  Our desire is that all of our staff can come to our managers with any feedback and that it is implemented to drive students success at Mastery. We feel that teachers should feel supported in their work and we're currently reevaluating our special education programming to ensure that happens. We're also expecting to hire additional teachers for the 2026/2027 school to support our MTSS model.  We welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further, please feel free to reach out to us at recruitment@masterycharter.org.
