Pros

Interesting technology which in the right hands could have amazing potential.

Cons

Terrible, unfocused management. Utterly disorganized teams from management down. No one knows what they should be doing, or what the company intends, even day to day the demands change. This company has no clear direction.

Negative reviews reflect reality of the company

Pros

You have the standard Silicon Valley company perks like free lunch, membership to the gym, dry cleaning service, caltrain pass, and all you can drink coffee through out the day. The employees at Matterport are all very intelligent and are working hard to make the company successful.

Cons

The two negative reviews about the company are correct. They have had a revolving door of execs which suggests either a poor ability to select talent or a blame culture at the highest levels. Also, they really take advantage of At-Will Employment law in California. You will receive zero notice regarding your performance and will be let go without notice.

I wish I knew who you are so we could talk directly -- feel free to come talk if you'd like. It sounds like someone has left us that you felt strongly about . But for the last year, we've built the executive team and no one in that group has left us. We think we've got the executive talent for the next phase of the company and they are a highly engaged group. We're actively watching our turnover and it's now running at about 10% -- greatly under metrics for the Silicon Valley and our peer companies -- but up from a really low level in the past. Sometimes, it just seems like there is turnover when someone you likes leaves. It's hard but occassionally necessary in a growing company. Hopefully these will be few and far between...

Unorganized, Toxic and Lacking Leadership

Pros

As others have stated, the technology was first to market and remains an amazing example of engineering.

Cons

Leadership lacks strategic vision Political gamesmanship within leadership lay the groundwork for a toxic work environment No COO to drive process improvements across the organization Marketing leadership is non existent with a "fend for yourself" disposition. Checked-out, overworked and under-appreciated employees
