Pros

I got along with all of my coworkers. Coworkers were talented and skilled and some managers actually cared about the patients. Gained recruiting experience. You will have some “diamond in the rough” clients, patients, and external staff that make you feel like you are making a difference in their lives. Pay was good once you get promoted.

Cons

Your job title will be recruiter, but you will barely recruit. Be expected to also be a secretary, scheduling coordinator, HR specialist, IT support, payroll, receptionist and account manager. Expect to be putting out fires 40% of the time. Field support leaned on recruiters a lot to do their job. Training and online modules are disorganized. I learned through winging everything and shadowing coworkers. Technology and ATS is outdated which makes you waste even more time. There is a serious lack of work-life balance and management does not bother to try to promote it. When you bring up things to improve, they will say “that’s the way it’s always been”, and everyone else just puts their heads down and continues with the status quo. Corporate is unwilling to budge and be more progressive. There’s also a lack of HR and professionalism in the workplace. You can often hear staff and management openly gossiping and bad-mouthing others. There is no sense of privacy in the pit. Meetings rarely ever end on time, which cuts into your recruiting time. KPIs are unrealistic and overemphasized. Recruiters were constantly overworked and stressed which contributed to a general bad mood and attitude in the office. This is my opinion from the office I came from, but if you look through all the Glassdoor reviews, you will see the same type of review everywhere else.

Pros

-They will hire literally anyone. If you're absolutely desperate then apply. -As a recruiter you can get promoted within 1-2 years

Cons

Maxim preys on recent college grads and pays them dog sh!t money to do an extremely stressful and high-stakes job. You are encouraged by management to underpay your nurses so you make more personal commission. You are encouraged to staff patients with "better" insurance with higher reimbursement rates, which often leads to patients with Medicaid not receiving the services they DESERVE. It's completely unethical. There is zero work-life balance and you'll often find yourself doing work on the weekends because you feel indebted to your patients. You get yelled at all day by angry families due to lack of nursing coverage, meanwhile there is a world wide nursing shortage and no nurses want to work in home healthcare because it's barely a living wage. How is it legal to pay an RN $22/hr? It's insane. The office is called the "pit" and they shove desks together and you make cold calls all day like a sweatshop. You work your butt off to hit weekly $ goals so your manager gets a free trip to Cancun. All this company cares about is money (shocker), they could not care less about the patients they serve or the nurses they employ. Maxim is evil. I would rather be unemployed than work here.

Pros

-Met a few good people, and still keep in touch with them. -Paid once a week, every Friday. -It was close to my house.

Cons

I was completely overworked and underpaid. Since I was hourly, they wanted to cut down on my overtime. I was told by upper management that my job wasn't that hard, and shouldn't take me that long to do. Then more work was piled on, so I had to do more work, and had less time to do it. At one point I was reprimanded for taking a 40 minute lunch at a nearby restaurant, and I was told if I wanted to take a lunch and sit down at a restaurant, I had to first ask if that was okay. Otherwise, my coworkers and I were expected to eat at our desks and work through lunch, considering the phone never stopped ringing. The nurses that we staffed were completely underpaid as well, so we ended up having to hire nurses that were under qualified. Those patients deserve better nurses and better care. We were expected to staff all shifts all the time, and hire multiple nurses every week, but they created a hiring system that made it very difficult to get people hired. Lots of red tape and frustration. It felt very counterproductive, and pointless. It has a very high turnover rate. Within 16 months of working there 7 people left, including me. After I left 2 more did as well. Benefits are not good. Very high deductible - covers nothing until the deductible is met. I was very sick at the beginning of the year and had to get a prescription. It cost me $226, and that doesn't include what I had to pay for the office visit.
