Pros

The people at Mayer Brown are fantastic. Both in London and Chicago, the people are friendly and want to get a good job done.

Cons

There is a huge split between the treatment of fee-earning and support staff. Support staff are not seen as being drivers of the business with the skills and expertise to drive ommercial excellence. Rather they are seen (and consequently see themselves) as transational functions, that add little value to the business.

Pros

employment is employment, benefits are average

Cons

Personnel is distant, secretive, robot-like. Attorneys are generally great to work with. Personell forces evaluating attorneys to downgrade yearly evaluations, undercutting fairness to employees, thus impacting employee morale. I've seen and experienced this time and time again.
