Pros

Working in the Chicago office at Headquarters was about the best part. For all the faults, at least Chicago "got its way" and had most of the management structure there. As with many other global/large national companies/firms, it seemed like the remote offices (anything outside of Chicago) suffered from a little bit of Red Headed Stepchild-ness.

Cons

Medical insurance was outrageously expensive, which makes sense since it's a partnership and every partner was in reality footing part of the coverage. HR was pretty rough. Had a very negative, borderline abusive conversation with a very senior staff member. Made me all the happier to leave.

Pros

Good, if nerdy, people. Treated you as fairly as possible for big law. Great experience and opened doors for subsequent opportunities. Also, taught me to be a lawyer.

Cons

It is big law. The business structure makes it hard for management to do anything outside of the box or to limit the burden on young associates.
