McAlister's is a fair workplace for new starter's in the food industry. This is not a laid back environment.

Pros

Easy to get in if they really need more workers. Wages are hourly Very subtle health insurance program (I didn't notice they had one till I asked) Free Tea (Bring your own cup) Interview is easy, just be confident in your answers Very flexible schedule (they will bend the schedule around your life as much as possible)

Cons

Will not hire if they don't need people (Stacks of applications just sitting on a desk) No Free food, only a 30% discount (Management gets free food only) Good training is scarce, you must know how to learn quickly once your told what to do (They will give you multiple chances to succeed) For the 5 years I've worked, I have not seen any non management employee go above $9 an hour (Raises and Bonuses are very limited) New Foods come and go.

My experience at McAlister's Deli has been interesting.

Pros

The food is healthy and different from fast food and other restaurants. Everything is cooked and steamed, not fried and you develop relationships with regular customers.

Cons

They are a small franchise and do not make enough money to offer promotions or raises. Morale is very poor among employees.

Pros

It is a very family oriented restaurant. I love the staff they work with you on schedules and teaching/training, lots of fun. People are always so friendly and there is no drama.

Cons

It is not really a full time job place more of you work 3 hrs here maybe 5 there kind of thing. sometimes tho you do work alot,but you have prove you want to work not be a slacker.
