Pros

Very large company with a number of diverse positions, so you can easily try different jobs while staying within the same company. Good place to learn about the healthcare industry. Many of the employees are very friendly. Pay, benefits and work-life balance are good. Perfect company if you're the type of person who works to live.

Cons

It's a corporation, so there is pleanty of bureaucracy and hoops to jump thru, which leads to a lot of inefficiencies and wasted time. Communication is very poor, both between management and coworkers. Employees tend to horde information and are not willing to share it. Company culture is extremely resistant to change. Culture also has a mentality that is the exact opposite to "the buck stops here."

Pros

Health is an industry that may not be struck as much by the foul economy. Many of the lower job are needed for the company to function. So, in short you have job security on your side.

Cons

It is a flat organization. Most people that are moved into higher positions have been with the company for several, more than 5, years...it does not matter how good your work is...it matters how politically good you are...almost like they promote false perspectives. This is one reason why their expenses management is questionable...everyone is biting their tongue.

Pros

McKesson is an innovative partner in healthcare information products and services and strives to understand and give customers what they need. They have a unique opportunity to help transform healthcare services to be more cost effective and process efficient. Employees are encouraged to learn and develop and are rewarded quite well when they go above and beyond their job responsibilities. A good place to learn the business and start a career. Teams are expected to work hard and have fun.

Cons

Having to choose between maintaining consistent quality work, advancing my career or managing a responsible home life. In order to truly develop and accomplish goals that will support McKesson's strategy and have lasting value, work must come first. That's sad and unnecessary and why I left.
