Pros

If you don't have a life, and you really don't want one, then this is the place for you. The upper management doesn't have a clue.

Cons

The upper management doesn't have a clue in this company. One month they are downsizing from 4 to 2 datacenters. After 18 months of migration projects to get all the servers, proper training, beef up the infrastructure, and hire more staff, then they decide that this was a bad idea and start re-hiring for the positions that they just laid off....but they won't hire any of the people they laid off. After all this crap, years later, they decide that this whole datacenter consolidation thing was a good idea and consolidate one of the original 2 that they kept with another. This is after they spent a billion or so beefing up this datacenter with infrastructure and staff. They would spend millions of dollars on software packages that were never used and no one knew how to use. They worked you to the bone. Horrible....horrible place to work.

Pros

The sole reason I am still working at Mckesson is the money. The pay is in line with their competitors but the raises are nominal at best.

Cons

This company is hyper sensitive to promoting women and I have personally seen women given promotions twice as fast their male counterparts. In one instance, a female employee was promoted twice in one year and one of these promotions came while she was out on a three month maternity leave. Secondly, senior leadership throughout the organization has a

Pros

I work from home and enjoy not having to commute, dress or put on make-up in order to keep up appearences. I also live in a state that does not have a high rate of pay for my type of position but McKesson pays as well as working in a hospital would pay. My supervisor is very supportative and it is nice to feel a connection even though we telecomute and work over the telephone. The work challenges my intellect rather than my physical abilities. It is in some ways a more difficult job but keeps your mind working and sharp.

Cons

Lack or personal contact with my peers. It is sometimes lonely to work in an enviroment that is isolated from your peers and supervisors. Having an instant messaging system to "talk" with others helps some but not having someone present in the room can be disconcerting at times. I do enjoy having the room to myself at home with no distractions but it can be boring when the job demands are not as intense as other times. Also not personally knowing your peers makes it hard to relate to people at times. When there is a crisis on the telephone, having someone there to help you through it would be nice.
