Pros

Great business sector that's virtually recession proof. Diversified company. Great balance sheet. Overall high customer and employee satisfaction ratings. McKesson is the leader in several categories (e.g. largest distributor of pharmaceuticals and medical & surgical supplies in the U.S.)

Cons

Large company so change is often slow. Incompetence is all too often rewarded with promotion. Weak marketing department (it's really more of an advertising department than a classical marketing department..)

Pros

Meaning full work that provides improved patient safety which in turn saves lives.

Cons

Upper management doesn't have clarity in decision rights, so messages are confusing, inconsistent, and at times contradictory. This in turn produces inefficiencies in operations and dissatisfaction in the workforce. While integrity and respect are two of the stated core values of the company, all too often management fails to be honest about performance evaluations or appropriately judging the value of its people. Accountability seems to be missing. When management gets things wrong, the heads that roll are those of the workers below rather than the management. In other words, poor management is not held accountable, but rather the one's executing the (mismanaged) strategy are held at fault.

Pros

Company strives for excellence but sails on mediocrity. If you want to do just the bare minimum and get away with it. Also, more stable vs big pharma.

Cons

Large company, little opportunity for real advancement. Continual restructuring. Salaries are below par vs industry. No support for education. No understanding of needs for work/life balance. Exploitative work environment: senior management have elitist behaviour, treat reports as if they own, not employ them. Salary increases annualy are just minimum. Employment offers are below market - so they either get desperate, very inexperienced or plain stupid . High turnover rate, since a lot of people are sold on premises that they're getting a career opportunity, yet once they join they are being ignored and unappreciated.workers to join.
