Stagnant opportunity for advancement in a large corporate environment.

Pros

Access to national view of pharma distribution and healthcare services from the leading company. McKesson pushes the envelope in developing unique strategies and tactics for doing business. Ability to have an impact or work on opportunities with other healthcare market leaders.

Cons

Senior leadership is going in the right direction, however, the "old boys club" mentality of upper management provides stagnation, frustration, and a glass ceiling to most employees. A select few perform the work while others are left to collecting paychecks with no advancement / contribution. Politics and micro-management are key contributors to most day-to-day frustrations.

Great place for those starting out in a corporate career!

Pros

Prior to the HBOC merger debaucle, McKesson was a great and authentic "old school" corporation and I say that with praise to the corporation! Very structured and provided a good "boot camp" for entry level managers or those new to the business world. I grew in my career at McKesson and learned a lot from seasoned managers. Great HR structure. Wonderful middle management who got business done, but respected employees.

Cons

Salary is somewhat middle to middle-low in contrast to industry standard. A little bit behind the times in certain areas, but catching up rapidly in areas of information technology.

Large company mentality. That's to be expected, given it's a large company.
