Pros

Work from home option for most departments

Cons

Every year or so this company fires several people around December/January in order to line their pockets and give payouts to their executives/shareholders/ceos. They have recently started firing people in order to “offshore” the positions to people making pennies on the dollar in the Philippines. I’ve known several people who have lost their job because of this. Just today they let go of several team leads and coincidentally our CEO just retired. My guess is they needed the extra money to pay him for the couple years of service he gave to a company that just lost a huge contract due to their mismanagement. The training is abysmal and the processes and procedures outdated. You get taught second hand information that may or may not be correct. QA requirements change almost every other month so you can never seem to be up to date on the newest way to do something. Every year or two they decide to do a reorg so your job and tasks are always shifting. You learn something and then as soon as you begin to really understand and get good at it, they change things again. At this point, there is no ability for growth because of offshoring. Those who took the positions of team leads within the last year or two in hopes to grow, just got fired because of the “business needs”. They were given no option for demotions. If I didn’t know this was standard business practice at Medrisk, I may have wondered what they did wrong. They did nothing wrong, the company is just greedy. This is also not just department specific. These mass firings/layoffs are part of the company culture. When there’s an impromptu meeting, all of us hold our breath to see if we are the next to be fired or if it’s an announcement of several coworkers being fired. Sadly, I’ve been a part of way too many of those meetings. When we were in the office they used to give the remaining workers pizza when they did that. So I guess in their mind that made up for people losing their livelihood and health insurance.

Pros

work from home flexible working hours

Cons

Senior leaders are unable to lead, strategize and provide good employee experience . They lack the experience and competency to drive the organization. All about profit and being operated like a mom and pop shop. Demoralized staff due poor leadership

Pros

Many of the non-management and lower management people here are wonderful to work with. Telecommuting is allowed one day a week in several departments.

Cons

I've seen 3 rounds of layoffs during my tenure at this company so far. All of the work is now going overseas. No one in upper management has any clue how the company actual runs. Unrealistic demands are made because of this. I still can't understand how this company manages to make a dime, let alone the tidy profit they do.
