- Poor upper leadership (Director and VP level)
- Expected to be available 24/7
- FORCED to work overtime (nights and weekends)
- Everything is the recruiters fault
- Lots of favoritism in play
- Little ramp up time in a highly competitive field. I watched many talented people getting pushed out the door too early
- Some practices are destined to make you fail (good luck if you are anything but ANX or RAD)
- No solid recruiter manager system set in place. They are constantly hiring and firing/loosing managers because they have poor incentives and training. Not to mention they try and use this as a selling point during hiring that you can get promoted. I know multiple managers that made significantly less as a manger, while having the exact same KPI expectations as a normal recruiter. Most quit or stepped down as a manager.
- Do not set recruiters up for success at all. I work in a sales job now that is still very much outreach, especially cold outreach which is 99% of what you do as a recruiter at Medicus because there is ZERO incoming leads, and we have multiple different tools to help us find new prospects, get their contact info, call, email, etc. Medicus on the other hand had us rely on google search or spend money out of our own pocket for subscriptions to sketchy websites with poor data. Then they blame the recruiters for not getting anyone to pick up the phone or for calling a bunch of out of service numbers.
