Pros

- co-workers / peers - pay / incentives (but not uniformly so) - physical work space / enviorment - peers - financials & key performance metrics very strong vs. industry

Cons

- senior leadership frequently changes mind and approach - senior leadership treats rank and file poorly - communication of high level strategies is poor - culture that Meijer family developed is not being lived out - rank and file are basically fearful of senior management

Everyone is miserable here

Pros

Night shift isn't too bad, weekly pay, pretty hard to get fired unless you get caught stealing

Cons

getting raises is very slow, not many vacation days, union dues are always going up so getting a raise doesn't even do anything for you, the customers are horrible, management are a bunch of wimps who give in to abusive customers if they yell enough, no extra pay for working night shift, no bonuses ever, employee discount doesn't work on grocery or health and beauty products (most of the items in the store), lots of favoritism going on in management, they keep trying to run the store with fewer and fewer people and then they get mad when stuff doesn't get done because there aren't enough people to do it, nothing gets done when another employee is harassing you
