Pros

I liked the work and helping customers a lot! I mean, I knew I’d be ringing up groceries…after all, how many times had I shopped there myself?! Put a smile on your face, say “please” and “thank you” and try to expedite the process and most people are friendly. I kinda loved it. Meijer offers decent benefits too. That was a surprise.

Cons

BUT…the store just throws cashiers into the registers and expects them to know how to operate the machine with each type of transaction - right in front of the customers who, rightfully expect the employees to already know how to perform their jobs. It’s unnecessarily stressful and can be prevented. And, it’s worse at the self-check terminals where there are no manuals to help troubleshoot issues.

Pros

The basic 30 minute lunch, 2- 15 minute breaks, "discounts" (that I seem to not have gotten any despite being signed up with MPERKS and having my phone # linked to it..).

Cons

Oh where do we start... 1. Upper management will enforce policy rules on team leaders but never talk to actual employees about infractions. 2. Training is non-existent, I was basically shown how to stock and put pallets in the right area and that's it. Everything else is learned when you get yelled at and "coached" for not doing something that you weren't trained to do. 3. Regional managers/Directors don't have a clue what's going on in the store. They think that employees aren't getting the job done because they aren't opening boxes correctly... No, it's because they are moving slow and don't care!! 4. Team leaders/managers will throw their workload onto you especially if you are in another department. 5. When they think you are a hard worker, be prepared to be taken advantage of. Our shift had 3 people quit in the same week and their workload was placed on us without any other people being hired and we were specifically told that despite the workload, hours will be cut. 6. They play favorites. I work with a new "team lead" who kisses up to the regional boss but when he is "working" he is on his phone facetiming and threatening people.

Pros

Ok if your working around the right people if not seems like even your boss will talk about u badly or make fun of u and when u confront them they deny it and try to be your friend by talking about others! Sad sad

Cons

Just said up above. If your haven't worked there your whole life then they will talk behind your back to a point where u walk out or get fired by standing up and saying something. Thats why they go thru so many people!
