Incredible Company and Culture

Pros

Throughout my career with Melaleuca I have been promoted 10 different times and have had countless opportunities to grow and develop skills that will be of benefit to me in my life. This is very empowering to me to know that there are opportunities to advance my career, and also comforting to know that this is a company that fosters an environment and a culture where personal development and career opportunities are respected. I love the fact that loyalty and hard work are not taken for granted and have a high value placed on those who go the distance with the company. I also have a great deal of respect for our management team, and the effort that they make to build relationships with their co-workers. They actually take the time to get to know me and my family, and to take an interests in how we are doing.

Cons

One of the many reason Melaleuca is successful is because of its high expectations. Along with high expectations comes stress. So if you don’t handle stress very well then you may want to look elsewhere. Also, although it’s not expected to work 50-60 hours a week there’s plenty of work to be done, and it's always worth going the extra mile.

Pros

Melaleuca is a company who I feel wants to see you achieve your goals. I have worked at Melaleuca for a little more than 8 years and have seen my career grow. They have given me the resources to succeed and have been able to develop a great maintenance team. The company also provides excellent benefits such as: Company Picnic, Company Christmas Parties, 401K match, Longevity bonuses, fantastic health insurance, Health incentives, star performer, and the list goes on. I love the ground rules that Melaleuca has set out for employees to follow. The ground rules are to be: Honest, Open, Candid, Constructive, Own your own data, confidential, participate, Non-defensive, and Concise. I currently serve on the city council and have had great success using those principles in dealing with city workers and the community. The location is great and is a plus for those looking for a rural feel and who like the outdoors. The biggest pro to Melaleuca is they are debt free. Before building a building or making a big financial investment, the first question is what the ROI is and how will that fit into our financial plans. I love working for a company that doesn’t put our jobs at risk only to keep up with others in our industry or with something that “might” work. They calculate the risks/rewards very carefully before making those type of decision.

Cons

They are a frugal company and try to pass the savings on to our customers. By doing so, they expect a lot out of you. You might work 45-50 hours a week or more to get the expected tasks done. You also wear many hats. I think this could be considered a pro and con. The pro would be that you learn more and will use that knowledge in future positions within the company. The con is that sometimes it puts you out of your comfort zone and people don't like that. It will also take you away from your family at times. Being a frugal and methodical company, they don’t make decision as fast as some would like. This can frustrate some who work here. What I have found to curb this issue is to own your data and be honest. This usually will give you the best results. If you are not afraid to be open and honest than working here is the right fit. If that makes you uncomfortable, than this is probably not a company you should pursue.

Pros

The career opportunity at Melaleuca is beyond anything I have ever seen at any other company. I have been given so many different opportunities that have helped develop me into the person I am today and I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish. I have worked here for over 16 years and still love coming to work each day. I am very passionate about Customer Service and I have been able to use my skills each and every day when interacting with our customers. Job security is a big factor for me and with the track record and success of Melaleuca I feel very secure in knowing that Melaleuca is here to stay.

Cons

Melaleuca has a very challenging work environment. If you are not willing to work hard and push through challenging situations it is not a good fit. You truly have to be dedicated to the job you are doing or you will find yourself not liking your job at all.
