Pros
If you enjoy working hard and to feel satisfied, yet always moving ahead, this is the place for your next employment. I have remained busy in my position for 7 years! I have down time, but just enough to "catch my breath" and then move on to the next big project. We are constantly striving to better ourselves at Melaleuca and to make our mission stand out by enhancing our lives and the lives of our consumers!
I love the Melaleuca benefits, including but certainly not limited to, the employee Longevity bonus, Frank's errands (I haven't had to do grocery shopping, dry cleaning, or car work in a couple of years), profit sharing, in-house cafeteria, etc.
Another item that I have loved are the chances to be with my family on events catered for our family such as going to the local zoo, having a family centered company picnic, a chance to attend local sports games, etc. I enjoy the fact that we are a family focused company.
It is a company that shares in many values that I hold true to me and what I have been taught from my parents and grandparents. The value of working hard provides one with many options in life. I have found that as I work hard (and at times can be frustrating with the work), it pays off in the end as there are great growth opportunities whether by bonuses, promotions/compensation, or other special events. It has been amazing to work to this point and especially being a person without a business degree, yet being promoted is a huge confidence booster that I must be doing something right.
Cons
With the love for always being busy, we do tend to at times even be overloaded. Like I mentioned there are times where I am able to "catch my breath" but the work continues. We are a company that definately works to get the "best stretch" out of our employees so if you are not a fast paces type of person in the workplace I'm not sure this will be for you. We work longer than the typical 40 hours a week. I am probably working on average 50-55 hours per week as I'll work at home most days for at least a few hours. We push and push as hard as we can until we are finally given additional resources to better the situation, but those don't come without a litany of "why's" coming to prove the need for additional resources.
Timelines become difficult due to other departments being on other projects or priorities.
IT tasks become a large overtaking to make sure that IT items get done. They seem to be understaffed so it is easier to push out projects for the future. Having worked in international it also should have more focus and priorities but many items are dependent upon the US (side note that this has also been a positive in some cases as well).
