      A multi-level marketing company supporting a 100,000+ person regional economy

      Pros

      When it does well, the 100,000 people who live here do okay (but not great, since it is run by a trickle-down CEO).

      Cons

      Melaleuca, Inc. may refuse to be called a pyramid scheme, but it's definitely a scheme of a pyramid-like nature. (Let's call it a dodecahedron scheme.) The CEO is at the top of the dodecahedron and their salary is nothing compared to how much they make off of every single marketing executive (all of whom are all in the down line of their side company, Tea Tree, Inc.). Melaleuca, Inc. is run by white, middle-age, Mormon males. There are no women or minorities on the board or in chief-level management.

      Pros

      The company offers flexible hours and the ability to work as much or as little as you like. Offers many benefits for purchasing from other companies.

      Cons

      You must be a self starter to achieve and really work the business. If you cannot handle setting your own goals then this job is not for you.

      Hard work for minimal gain.

      Pros

      A lot of smart people work here. You can learn a lot from your peers. Monthly product allowance. Health insurance was good from what I remember.

      Cons

      Minimal room for growth. Most people seemed to come from undergrad and leave within a few years. Not sure how the turnover has changed since I left. Company is managed from a few individuals at the top. I left because I found a better paying job elsewhere. I don't think it is very hard to do compared to Melaleuca.
