Pros

Operating room: Fairly well staffed for day shift. Detailed policies in place. Scheduling assignments mostly fair.

Cons

Operating room: Evening shift can be under-staffed at times. Must rotate through all surgical specialties (not belonging to any one specialty team).

Employment at MMC

Pros

Overall, I would recommend working for MMC. I enjoyed the staff I worked with. The salary was fair and there were multiple adjustments d/t market during my employment. Management encourages and helps staff advance their education and return to school.

Cons

There were many changes while I was there, including the building of a new patient tower that was opened before adequate staff were trained or hired, leaving the rest of the hospital who were already shortstaffed to help cover the gaps. The pros outweighed any cons for me, however.

The Comapny Is Okay

Pros

Coworkers are nice and engaging, opportunities to learn, large campus, consistently meet new people

Cons

There is limited career advancement within my department and transferring to a different department is difficult because of the selection process. Even with a degree and qualifying, the chances are still very challenging. They may/will even hire someone who is less qualified to fill the position. Also, the pay is low and raises are not much. Scheduling can also be a problem at times.
