Pros

Great experience. You'll make a ton of friends and professional connections. I had great managers during my time at the company. This job will show you how the sales process works and the possibilities available to you as a young sales professional. Happy Hours, company events, Bagel/Donut Thursdays. The CEOs are very personal and down to earth guys. If you're good on the phone or a natural sales person, you'll thrive in this environment. memoryBlue got me my next job, so I'm thankful for the time I spent there.

Cons

As the title says, this job isn't for everyone. If you're applying and interviewing here, I would try and figure out as much as possible what a real day in the life of an SDR is. Too often there are kids right out of college who have no idea what they're getting into which leads to a lot of turn over. Sales is not an easy profession but it does yield high rewards and opportunities. Your experience here will truly depend on what client you're assigned to. There will be those who get an easy account and are able to leave for the entire day, there are those on harder account that will come in early and late leave late but not be rewarded for the efforts, and there are those who just kind of get by and do enough to stay employed. Another issue that I have with the company is the managers are elevated from within. A lot of the time, they are not qualified for the position. I have seen several instances where a manager is the same age as his team members and had been at the company less time than his SDRs. How can you expect SDRs to show any respect or take managers seriously when just last week they were on the same client? Unfortunately, I've heard that a ton of managers have left the company, which left the company with more inexperienced managers than experienced managers. I was fortunate to have great managers that taught me a lot.

Pros

I worked for memoryBlue for about 3 years. I was a college graduate, coming out of retail, desperate to find that "foot in the door." One of their recruiters reached out to me and after the first interview I was incredibly intrigued! Sure they had a "contract" but if I couldn't do this job for a year and a half then maybe sales just wasn't for me. Before I continue...There are some great reviews and there are some not so great reviews here. Keep in mind, that THIS IS TECH SALES!!! It's not a walk in the park!!! You are going to have to work nights, weekends, long hours and you are going to have to grind! If you read the negative reviews, it's only people making excuses for their lack of performance and not taking the bull by the horns and immersing themselves in the experience (I mean, they had to resort to an online review to give their opinions, no one else would listen). This being said, I was looking for a better quality of life and memoryBlue delivered! Not only was I going to have a pretty steady schedule but they were going to invest in me with their training! While no one is perfect, I would say I can now run circles around my competition and win most sales I pursue. This isn't by accident. This was because of the exposure and training that memoryBlue provided me. Not only was I training constantly with the memoryBlue team, I was reading sales books in my spare time and networking with my clients. (This is what unsuccessful SDRs simply won't do.) Pros: - The networking within the industry - The constant training (but you have to want the training) - The fun and friendly atmosphere - Friendly competition (Seriously, if you are a competitive person then this is the right place for you.) - Marc, Chris and the rest of the leadership team Simply put: If you are looking for somewhere to start your career, learn as much as you possibly can and build a steady foundation for your career, memoryBlue is the right place for you.

Cons

Are you perfect? I know I am not and no one really is. Everyone has things to work on and memoryBlue is no exception. The company could definitely provide more tools to it's employees. For example, SDR's definitely need more access to list building tools and training on how to list build. Managers need more tools and processes on how to manage and train the SDRs. Perhaps the most difficult part on the managers is the high level of positive turnover. Once they have someone trained that person is then on their way out! Providing the managers with more structure and processes could alleviate some of the stress associated with this churn. Having a high level of focus is incredibly important for this job due to the office's tendency to get a little rowdy!! But is having fun while working a real con? Probably not.

Pros

I've received a vast amount of experience from this role and believe I can excel in sales in any industry after working for memoryBlue. The business model is great and there are opportunities to advance internally. The Founders, Marc and Chris, are both awesome and really want their employees to succeed after they leave memoryBlue. This company is great for anyone that is looking for a switch into tech-sales or looking to launch themselves into sales.

Cons

There needs to be more managers in the San Jose office. There is an inequity in the bonus pools and everyone is held to the same incentive goals regardless of the client they are on which means some people easily hit the goals while others never even have a shot. Some SDRs have to juggle two clients, and sometimes even three, while others only have one.
