Employee discount getting worse--when I started it was 40% then went to 55% or 60%, now back to 40%. Sense of trust is diminishing coming down from the CEO Company is struggling financially and will be closing 250 stores in 2017 Retail hours Has a tendency to advance or rehire problem employees, even those who have been caught stealing from the company Only Closed four days a year-`-Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas Low base salary If an employee has talents different from the sales floor, they are still required to excel in selling before they can move to other areas within the company

Good employee discount and merchandise payroll deduction system. Adequate compensation, with some bonuses. Good benefits. Festive, relaxed, and friendly environment most of the time. Middle management often uses a light touch.

Cons

The company is having a hard time deciding whether it is a medium-end quality retailer with excellent value and customer service, or an outlet style volume-driven giant that tries to cater to every niche in a shallow way. Internal training (product knowledge, store procedure, best practices) is wildly inconsistent - while you may go on training junkets or to meetings/ "jam sessions", learning is usually accomplished by independent research or word of mouth.
